Wake Me Up After the Extension on Black Friday / Cyber Monday Ends

Enough is enough already. Someone around here has to have some sense.
First, they start putting Christmas decorations up before Halloween. In some stores there were wreaths right next to Minion costumes. I’ve gotten used to that, though it seems like the retailers start earlier every year. Pretty soon they’ll have Holiday decorations right next to  the BBQ grills during the Labor Day Sales. Yes, I said Holiday sales because if you say  Christmas it offends some people if you say holiday it offends people. So let’s agree whatever your flavor of holiday is I don’t want to see the stores decked out in before the Lions get beat on Thanksgiving.

Decorating is one thing but now the retailers can’t read a calendar.  Black Friday no longer starts the day after Thanksgiving which happens to be a FRIDAY go figure.  Some stores kicked off Black Friday as early as 6 AM on Thanksgiving which is always always on a Thursday. Seems like the money grubbing retailers should think of a  name for Thursday shoppers. But who am I to quibble. Let’s think of a few shall we Thankless Thursday, Greedy Money Grubbing Thursday. Ok, so it doesn’t have the same pizzaz as Black Friday, or Cyber Monday but you get the gist.

36 hours of Black Friday madness and then Cyber Monday which I used to ignore because what you do on your computer is your business.  But now Cyber Monday has been extended to Cyber Monday week. WTH I woke up yesterday,  a Tuesday according to all the calendars in this house, only to discover that the Black Friday sales had already begun in earnest online.

Some stores like Kohl’s were kicking off their Black Friday sales on Wednesday. What? As the day progressed I keep seeing commercials that indicate Black Friday will not end until December 6th, 2016. Again not trying to be a stickler or anything but that is a Tuesday.  Which is a Tuesday, whic is clearly not a Friday so therefore you shouldn’t have a Black Friday sale on Tuesday. How are we still in the midst of Black Friday 2? That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. The  worse I think is the retailer that has extended  weeks after Thanksgiving?

Then there is Amazon. Their having a  month  long Black Friday Sale. Their Black Friday sale doesn’t end until December 22, 2016. I’m not sure if that is indeed a Friday. Quite frankly I don’t want to get up and look to find out. I do however know that it isn’t BLACK FRIDAY which is supposed to be the day AFTER Thanksgiving which was 11/24/16.  How the heck are you going to have a Black Friday sale for 3 weeks? Inquiring minds want to know.   I can’t even discuss the retailer who started their Black Friday sale on November 1, 2015. According to this retailer’s ads, Black Friday was going to last for 45 days this year. Really, So now it’s Black Friday/Ground Hog day. Don’t call Bill Murray. This is a sequel no one wants to see. Stop your nonsense right now. I mean it. Go to the corner and don’t come out until you’ve thought abut what you have done to the Holiday Season.

There is a reason, some people wait all year to shop on Black Friday.  I don’t understand those reasons but hey to each his /her own. I do understand waiting all year long for something that only happens once a year. For me it’s the start of March Madness. I don’t know what those of you who are Black Friday Lovers are going to do but if the Networks tried to push March Madness up and make it a February Fiasco I wouldn’t be happy. I would protest. March Madness is in February, it’s not March Madness in February it’s just a game. I have to believe Black Friday on a Thursday, Wednesday or November 1st isn’t the same as Black Friday on the day after Thanksgiving. but, what do I know?

I’m pretty sure this will all go away once I wake up. I know we are all playing bit parts in the sequel  to “Groundhog Day.” You remember the movie where Bill Murray relives Groundhog Day over and over and over again. Yep, this must be the sequel and folks. It’s a terrible movie. I think I’ll wait until Black Friday comes out on DVD.  I don’t like the sequel. If anyone  makes it out of the Black  Friday Matrix alive wake me when it’s done. Until then I will leave you with the words of Dr. Seuss and the “Grinch Who Stole Christmas:”

How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (Short 1966) –  Dr. Seuss Quotes

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060345/quotes?qt=qt0280358

Narrator: …”With his Grinch feet ice cold in the snow, he stood puzzling and puzzling how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. I came without boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. Maybe Christmas, he thought… doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps… means a little bit more!
