Empire Recap: Trouble in the Lyons’ Den

Lucious is back like he never left. In the opening scene, he wakes from a nightmare covered in sweat. In the dream, the moments just before his accident replay in his mind. The nightmare prompts him to send Thirsty looking for answers. He tells Thirsty before he leaves on his mission to pay close attention to Andre because he thinks his son knows more than he's saying about the car bombing that almost killed Lucious and Cookie in Vegas. Papa Lyons tells Cookie he misses her and wants to prove that even though he is the same old scandalous Lucious, Cookie is still his weakness. He makes it clear he will do whatever is necessary to get the love of his life back.

Will Shady Uncle Eddie Take Down the Lyons on Empire?

When Cookie Lyons reached out to Eddie Barker to help with the day-to-day running of Empire Entertainment, she thought she had someone she could depend on. A music legend and old family friend, Barker was supposed to be the one person Cookie could trust while Lucious recovered from the car bombing. Initially, Uncle Eddie lived up to the hype. He gave the label stability and let the Lyons focus on helping Dwight/Lucious.  But on Empire, everyone has an ulterior motive and agenda. When Eddie's money issues come to light he sets a plan in motion to solve them by stealing Empire Entertainment from his protege and oldest friends.

Memories of the difficult relationship she shares with her mother are heavy on Cookie's mind as she continues to search for Poundcake's daughter. While Cookie deals with her mommy issues, Lucious has his hands full stopping Eddie's takeover attempt. Since their parents are focused on other issues Hakeem and Jamal turn their focus to music. Hakeem plans a release strategy for his 20 for 20 single, while Jamal explores ways to release music not attached to the Empire label. Empire Re
